Introduction[]
Kazumi is the Chief Shrine Maiden of the Maemi Shrine of The Nihon Renmei (日本連盟, The Japanese Federation), a shrine which houses one of the 5 sacred Jewels of Eventide. The shrine houses Jewel of Eventide known as the "Kami no Tamagushi" (神の玉串, Sacred Shinto Tree Branch Of The Gods).

Take the delicate flowers, like the Proper Lady and theYamato Nadeshiko. Their manner and appearance suggest meekness and submission. Both of them have perfect etiquette, never speaking out of turn, and their voice is an ephemeral whisper. They are kind and pure, ladies who are neither capable of performing, nor even understanding the brutish ways of others in the world. They are beautiful maidens clothed in fine dresses and soft gloves and hold silk fans... made of sharpened blades. Beware the proper ones.
They might look like The Ingenue, perhaps evenpurposefully, but this rose has thorns. Neither may ever show it publicly, but they have a cunning mind with sharp intelligence and a strong will that won't bow for anyone. Neither ever loses their cool and can take anything life throws at them. Should the time come to fight, they won't hesitate. There's likely a Chastity Dagger hidden somewhere on her person.
Others may think they're powerless, but they know how to be subtle and operate within the means their "role" grants her. A word here, a look there, add a little subterfuge with Politeness Judo and often no one ever finds out they were manipulated. Things they approve of always somehow get done, things they disapprove of are somehow never accomplished. Neither of these women appear to be anything but the perfect lady, and yet they are far more than a wall flower, Home Maker or trophy wife. The husband that lords over the house? He's likely whipped by her.
When the time comes when subtlety isn't an option for one of these girls? She fights. Bravely, courageously, and without holding back. She won't turn away from danger or pain. She'll deliver the final blow herself— with violence if necessary— but she'll always mix the violence with class.
She's elegant, she's composed, and she's graceful. She's also packing enough magic to level half a city. The Lady of Black Magic is a character type found in fantasy who is primarily an offensive magic user.
Personality-wise, a Lady of Black Magic is elegant and more mature than The Hero. She may be an Ice Queen.
In design, this character will almost always be wearing something feminine, usually a dress of some sort. Unlike the Lady of War, the Lady of Black Magic can be Ms. Fanservice.
Physically, she'll be weaker than the melee type fighters, and will usually be equipped with a rod or ranged weapon. Very rarely she will have a melee weapon, but it will be weaker or less impressive than the hero's. Her primary combat role is to unleash destructive Black Magic, although she will occasionally have secondary healing, buffing, or debuffing abilities, as well.
Ladies of Black Magic are Always Female (Gentleman Wizard is the male counterpart), unlike their counterpartsBlack Magician Girl and White Magician Girl. She is rarely a Love Interest for The Hero, although if she is it will often be part of a Defrosting Ice Queen plot. Instead, she's usually older than The Hero and fills the role of a bigger sister, often a Cool Big Sis, or maternal figure.
Subtrope of Black Mage. Compare to Black Magician Girl, the other stock character type for offensive mages in fantasy. Contrast White Mage and White Magician Girl, to whom this character type is often a Foil, andBlack Magic.

Demon Summoning[]
Kazumi is a master of the art of Demon Summoning. Her body being covered in what appear to most as tattoos, they are in fact contracts with various different demons in return for her giving offerings at specific times. These contracts must be fulfilled, even if she is in mid-battle, or the demons will consume parts of her body or soul. As this suggests Demon Summoning is an extremely dangerous form of magic and most users end up dead due to its use. However if the user is careful about what contracts they make and meticulous in their upkeep of those contracts they can gain extremely powerful allies.

Blessings are a form of cleansing magic that allow for impurities to be removed from people, items and even areas. These impurities can be things as simple as damage or dirt to things as complex as curses and demon possessions. Kazumi mastered this art as part of her duties as a Shrine Maiden.
Enchanted Objects[]
Enchanted objects are items which have been imbued with powers via the performance of complex magical rituals. Kazumi mastered this art and makes use of a wide variety of enchanted objects.

Tamagushi[]
Kazumi's Tamagushi's (玉串?, literally "jewel skewer") are used in her method of making contracts with demons or communing with them. The Tamagushi's are a form of Shinto offering made from a sakaki-tree branch decorated with shide strips of washi paper, silk, or cotton.
Magical Charms[]
Kazumi has a large number of magical charms which she keeps on her person at all times. In order to prevent their easy loss Kazumi bound them into small metallic forms that can be used in piercings so that they never leave her side.
